It's a Mumbly Monday

It's Monday. That feeling of ... blah.... as you drag yourself out of bed. It's hard to wake up and get back into the weekday mode. Especially after a fun weekend larking about doing fun things. It's so cruel.

Today's Pearls perfectly describes my mood today. I seek my gummy bear heaven.

Grumbly, Mumbly Monday.

It's one of those Mondays. Hubby is off to Wisconsin for work; I woke up by chance because the power was out, and my alarm didn't go off... I rushed out of the house feeling icky because I couldn't shower. A large tanker trailer had rolled off the road apparently, just across the entrance to my street, taking out the power line. There it was, smashed to bits, covered in fire-extingishing foam, and a line of emergency vehicles a quarter of a mile long. Thankfully there were no fatalities. Hopefully we'll have power by the time I get home tonight.

The house is a complete wreck. I really do have to clean... but I have bonnets to make too. Urgh. Saturday I have to drive down to Eugene with the dogs all alone. ::whine::

It's so ... Monday. At least Pearls made me smile. Oh, and no ducks have appeared looking for food today. She only had five left last time we saw her. I hope we'll see her marching up with her brood soon. I refreshed their water and set out some food for them.

Pearls Before Swine ~ another Pastis moment

Snuffles the kitty is one of my favourite characters just because of the way he's drawn. A little puff ball with a face. Cute, yes, but do not be fooled. He is apparently also a dangerous Arms Smuggling Terrorist too.

Stephan Pastis is my hero.

I confess I'm addicted to "Pearls Before Swine". This cartoon has exceeded the highest benchmarks of cuteness known to man. From the inept crocs to the militant duck, there isn't a character I don't adore.

I hereby proclaim my adoration for this strip and for the ex-attorney that creates it. There's a rat that reminds me too much of myself, a sweet, clueless pig you can't help loving, the packs of crocs which apparently if they are adult males, acquire a strange speech impediment/accent, a duck that likes rocket launchers, lions who enjoy the benefit of hardworking wives, a teen croc and 'zeeba' that fall in love, and so much more.

It's clever, it's relevant, and god damn if it isn't cute as hell.

I tend to email the author frequently with annoying comments. For instance, I was so shocked by his recent decision to vilify the seemingly adorable and harmless (except to Crocs) kitten-katten "Snuffles", that I sent him an email to inform him of my astonishment. He's an affable, nice guy.
Thanks Stephan. :) I love your work.
